2024 is around the corner and in the spirit of the New Year, now is a good time to update and clarify some of the series rules and regulations. These updates can also be seen highlighted within the Spec E9X Rulebook here.
• “OE rubber front and rear suspension arm bushings may be upgraded to commercially available non-metal and non-spherical alternatives.” – This is so you can refurbish your existing front and rear suspension arms with polyurethane bushings without replacing the entire arm.
• “An unmodified, non-adjustable OEM or aftermarket steel front swaybar measuring no more than 32mm, and an unmodified non-adjustable OEM or aftermarket steel rear swaybar measuring no more than 20mm is permitted.” – This is because we’ve seen large drops in lap times with the addition of thicker swaybars.
• “Maxxis Victra RC-1 & Maxxis Victra VR-1 may be used instead of the Toyo RR.” – These tires are more affordable than the Toyos and similar in lap times. They are being added until we receive formal adoption from a group/series.
• “Rear-down bars must terminate on the trunk floor.” – This is to prevent cage builders from trying to add rigidity to the chassis by tying the cage to a different location.
• “OE rubber subframe bushings may be upgraded to commercially available non-metal alternatives. They must be the same height as the original.” – Clarification that subframe bushings can be replaced so long as the replacements match the height of OE bushings.
• “Adjustable Swaybar bar end-links and aftermarket spherical end-links are permitted.” – This is a clarification that adjustable end-links are allowed.
• “OE rubber differential mounts may be upgraded to commercially available non-metal alternatives. They must be the same dimensions as the original.” – Clarification that differential bushings can be replaced so long as they match the OE dimensions.
• “Interior trunk steel panels may be cut out.” – This is a clarification that the trunk can be gutted.
• “During an official dyno test, tire pressures have been increased to a 38 psi minimum.”
Last but not least, the Spec E9X tune has been thoroughly tested and recently finalized. Epic Motorsports is now working out the tamper-proof seals which will be available within the coming weeks (early 2024).

Happy New Year!
